Romeo's Favourite Movies

I don't watch movies often, but when I do ...

Hamilton (2020)

Technically only the official recording of a musical, but a really good musical nonetheless. Hamilton retells the story of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, from his brith to his rise and fall in a truly captivating and addictive manner.

Home (2015)

I have clear memories still of watching this in the cinema with my mom and older sister, even eight years on. The combinations of the human and alien main characters, as well as the juxtaposition of the doom and gloom of the science fiction premise and the cheery animation style, are unconventional but worth the watch to see how they work out through to the end.

Frozen (2013)

This too I vividly remember watching as a child when it first came out. To me, the way I see it twelve years after first watching it, it tells a paradoxically warming story of self-control and the effects of isolation on a person.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)

A well-made film about the realities of juvenile delinquency, violent crime, and small towns that made me realise it would be the opposite of a dream for me to get caught up in either one.

A Kind of Madness (2025)

Movies that appear romantic on the surface usually are the opposite of my choice, so me viewing this was upon the recommendation of my mom. But the movie turned out to be more about family and the importance thereof than it ever would be about romance, and it made me ask myself about how much am I really willing to do for the people I care for.
